This year millions of football fans and non-football fans around the world will gear up to watch the New England Patriots play against the New York Giants in the XLVI Super Bowl championship.  This year’s Super Bowl is a rematch of Super Bowl XLII played four years. At Super Bowl XLII the New Giants defeated the New England Patriot 17–14 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. This year’s Super Bowl game will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

During media week—the week leading up to the Super Bowl there is a frenzy of reputable andwannaby sport reports mobbing the players from both teams doing whatever they can to get noticed—including asking the most ridiculous questions about everything un-relating to football.

My gripe with the actual game emanate from the fact the NFL has in place one of the worst playoff system that does not allow the two best teams to play against each other to decide the who is the best team in the NFL. Case in point, the best team in the NFL this year – The Green Bay Packers does not get to play in the Super Bowl because the one bad game they had all season came during the playoffs and the NFL ridiculous one-and-done system did not give the Packs the chance to avenge their loss to a paltry Kansas City Chiefs.

As for the two quarterbacks who will be playing in Sunday night’s game, the New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will be playing in his fifth Super Bowl and while he has only loss once he is no longer a  top tiered quarter back in the league. He is nowhere the close the quarterback he once was. Lately, Tom Brady has been known to choke on the big stage. As for the New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning the lucky train has left the station four years ago. Lately, this guy’s performance has been erratic at best.  The bottom-line is he is no Peyton Manning.

The real reason why the Super Bowl has loss it true meaning is corporate and marketing greed.  In a struggling economy where the unemployment rate is still at a staggering 8.5 %,” fat cats” will be charging between $600 and $1,200 a piece for tickets for this game.  Meanwhile, companies will be looking to advertise by any means necessary—coughing up a ridiculous $3.5 million (a 13 percent increase from last year) for a 30-second slot as they try to outdo each other hoping that at the Monday morning water cooler office workers will be discussing which commercials were the funniest.

The bottom line is, the Super Bowl is nothing more than a big stage that puts two mediocre teams at best to play against each other—with the emphasis on corporate greed with very little emphasis on the actual game of Professional football.

However, the Facebook Security page contains no warning about these scams, nor is anything mentioned in the social network’s help center about the fact that timeline cannot be removed after the first seven days.

Users do have seven days to review all of the content that will appear in their timelines.
